AMY NEWTON-MCCONNEL
Arizona UNITED STATES
My art is a visual exploration of the world around me, captured through the lens of my camera and translated into abstract forms through the techniques of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography and Multiple Exposure (ME). Through multiple exposures and intentionally moving the camera during exposure, I am able to capture painterly and abstract effects that tell unique and compelling visual stories.
Inspired by the lines, textures, colors, and shapes that surround me, I use them to evoke emotional responses in my art. Through ICM and ME photography, I am able to see the world in a new and unexpected way, allowing me to express my thoughts and feelings without words. Each photograph I create is a snapshot of a fleeting moment, a blend of movement, color, and emotion that invites viewers to experience the beauty and fluidity of the world through my unique lens.
My technique creates images that capture the essence of a singular moment in time. I want my art to resonate with viewers, to transport them into a world where colors blend and shapes dance, evoking a sense of wonder and intrigue. Through my abstract photography, I aim to compose visual stories that challenge perceptions and ignite the imagination. By embracing the art of ICM, I hope to inspire others to see the beauty in the ordinary and to appreciate the fleeting moments that make life so wondrous.
My goal is to invite viewers to see the world in a new light, to experience the beauty and complexity of life through the lens of my camera. In a world where everything moves fast and is easily forgotten, I create art that captures the essence of a moment, allowing viewers to experience the fluidity, color, and emotion of that moment before it disappears.
