As a photographer and an independent filmmaker, my work is inspired by bold patterns, powerful monuments and the beauty of the natural world. I explore themes centered on African American identity, history and culture, in which I will often utilize archival materials to re-center people of African descent into narratives about the future and liberation.
Carol Bash is the Founder and President of Paradox Films, a media production company based in Peekskill, New York. She is an award winning documentary filmmaker with over 25 years of experience. She has worked with various established production companies — most notably Firelight Media — as a freelance Producer, Director, Archival Producer, Cinematographer and Production Coordinator. Before her career in independent film, she worked at CBS News as a Broadcast Associate.
Carol is an Organizer/Programmer of the annual Peekskill Film Festival. She is a Firelight Media Documentary Lab Fellow and a former Black Public Media artist-in-residence. She has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, New York State Council on the Arts, The Ford Foundation, Independent Television Service (ITVS) and Black Public Media, amongst others.
