KARIN SVADLENAK
Vienna AUSTRIA
I am a Vienna-based photographer and graduate of the Prager Fotoschule Österreich in Linz. Having lived in several countries, my work is shaped by an international perspective and a deep interest in culture, people, and the natural world.
My main photographic focus is the arts, particularly stage and performance photography, but I also work across events, street photography, travel photography, visual storytelling, and abstract art. Vienna is the city where I grew up, and it continues to inspire me through its unique blend of culture, history, and accessible urban nature.
My creative practice is shaped by observation, movement, and a curiosity about how people inhabit cultural and natural spaces. Photography allows me to respond to moments as they unfold, whether I am documenting a performance, walking through a city, travelling, or observing the quieter details of everyday life.
I am particularly interested in the relationship between documentary photography and more experimental image-making. While much of my work begins with the act of noticing, I also enjoy exploring abstraction, atmosphere, and the visual possibilities of both analogue and digital processes. Stage and performance photography have taught me to work with light, gesture, timing, and emotion, while street, travel, and nature photography allow me to remain attentive to chance encounters and changing environments.
Across my practice, I am drawn to images that hold a sense of life, presence, and cultural connection.
