KARIN SVADLENAK
Vienna AUSTRIA
Across my practice, I am drawn to images that hold a sense of life, presence, and cultural connection.
Karin Svadlenak is a Vienna-based photographer and graduate of the Prager Fotoschule Österreich in Linz. Having lived in several countries, she brings an international perspective to her engagement with culture, people, and the natural world. Vienna, where she grew up, remains central to her practice through its convergence of history, cultural life, and urban nature. Her work spans stage and performance, event, street, travel, documentary, and abstract photography.
Guided by observation, movement, and an interest in how people inhabit cultural and natural spaces, Karin responds to moments as they unfold. Her practice moves between documentary observation and experimental image-making, exploring how a subject can be both recorded and reinterpreted. Stage photography has developed her attention to light, gesture, timing, and emotion, while her street, travel, and nature photography engages with chance encounters and changing environments. Working across analog and digital processes, she uses abstraction and atmosphere to extend the photograph beyond direct representation.
