RACHEL WILLIAMS

Newburgh NY UNITED STATES
I hope to create a sanctuary for reflection and healing, offering viewers a moment of calm and self-discovery in an otherwise chaotic world.
Rachel Williams is a Hudson Valley-based artist whose paintings examine solitude, memory, introspection, and self-care. Informed by the region’s landscape, her work considers the internal spaces that emerge when attention withdraws from the external world. Using a monochromatic palette influenced by vintage photography and film noir, Rachel creates scenes in which narrative remains open and emotion is conveyed through atmosphere, gesture, and tonal contrast. The absence of color removes temporal markers and invites viewers to bring their own memories and interpretations to each image.

Rachel studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Orange County Community College, the School of Art and Design at Alfred University, and SUNY New Paltz. Alongside her studio practice, she works as a full-time art teacher and is a wife and mother of two daughters. Her work has been exhibited in Montclair and Jersey City, New Jersey, New York City, and throughout the Hudson Valley. Her paintings are held in private and corporate collections.
