I am a visual artist based in Saugerties, New York, working through rhythmic compositions of colour, form, and line. I earned my BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1983 and have exhibited extensively throughout the United States, as well as internationally in France and Venice, Italy.

My work has received numerous awards and has been included in exhibitions curated by professionals from institutions including the Whitney Museum, the Guggenheim, and the Brooklyn Museum. After many years developing my painting practice in Brooklyn, I moved my studio to the Catskills in 2015.

My work is informed by my embodied knowledge. I work intuitively, trusting that I will find my way through. Painting, for me, is a physical and intuitive form of thinking, where color, form, and line become a way of questioning and discovering.

I often follow what emerges on the canvas, allowing myself to get lost and then find my way again. Through this process, connections begin to appear between memory, imagination, and observation. I am interested in the moment when whimsy and depth meet, and when rhythm, gesture, and color begin to form their own visual language.

“It is through art that I explore both my own nature and the world that surrounds me. A sense of wholeness emerges in this exchange, one in which I both shape and am shaped, held within a continuum that feels older than language. I follow color, form, and image as they surface, allowing them to lead, to gather, to become.

This intuitive process draws from seeing, memory, and reverie, but also from a kind of knowing that moves through the body, carried and remembered rather than learned. It is a process of getting lost and finding my way again, of circling, of returning. Trust becomes essential: trusting what appears, what recedes, what insists.

As themes come in and out of focus, they begin to reveal connections between personal history and something more collective, between the inner landscape and the rhythms of the natural world.

My work reflects on time, memory, dream space, the body, nature, and the environment. I explore the duality of feminine and masculine, my own duality, through embodied knowledge. This is a place of connection, one that holds tension, vulnerability, endurance, intuition and power.”
