SOLI PIERCE
cypress wood and stone
12H x 11W x 6D in (30.5 × 28 × 15 cm)
A cross-section of wood, shaped by natural voids and irregular perforations, surrounds a suspended gold sphere. The structure appears both protective and exposing, making its interior visible through material rupture. Its openings become points of transmission, while the sphere suggests a center of identity held within a framework marked by time, erosion, and growth. Through balance and tension, the work presents power as internal, porous, and adaptive. It connects nature with intention, showing how strength and vulnerability coexist and how identity is both supported and complicated by the structures that contain it.
