Barbara Christol is a French multidisciplinary visual artist based in Nîmes and a graduate of the Sorbonne. Working across painting, drawing, weaving, photography, installation, and performance, she examines space, time, and play through geometry and line. Her practice considers the relationship between structure and intuition, visibility and absence.

Drawing informs each area of her work. Lines may be rendered in charcoal, chalk, or graphite, or extended through thread to become physical forms within space. Geometry gives her compositions an architectural quality while creating shifts in perception and meaning. Barbara also creates site-responsive installations using sky-blue wool, a material central to her practice for more than twenty years. Presented in natural and institutional settings, these temporary weavings extend drawing into the environment, responding to the conditions of each location. More recently, performance and collaborations with musicians and choreographers have expanded her work across disciplines, introducing movement and sound as structural elements within her compositions.

Barbara has exhibited in France and abroad, including at the Salon des Beaux-Arts in Paris, the Sculpture Symposium in Chile, Art Cologne, the Saatchi Gallery in London, and galleries in New York and Tokyo.
