Dan Florin is a photographer based in Peekskill, New York, whose practice spans nearly five decades. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from SUNY New Paltz and a Master of Science in Education, specializing in reading, from Lehman College. He also studied at the School of Visual Arts and the International Center of Photography in New York.

Dan began his career as a reproduction photographic printer in New York City, where he worked for eight years before becoming a teacher in Yonkers. During his 31-year career in education, he also served as vice president of the teachers’ union.

His photographic practice combines digital and analog processes. He uses digital photography for its approach to color and immediacy, while turning to traditional darkroom methods when their material and technical qualities support the development of a project. Working across several series at once, his projects may unfold over weeks or years.

Dan exhibits regularly, and his prints are held in private collections. He served on the board of the Peekskill Arts Alliance for two years, completing his term in January 2026. In this role, he organized and curated member exhibitions supporting Hudson Valley artists. He is currently a member of BAU Gallery in Beacon, New York.
