I grew up in a family of artists and artisans. Memories of witnessing their practice, while often creating alongside them, consistently stimulate my imagination. Vestiges of these experiences in these creative spaces form a legacy of their existence.

Applying mediums in layers, adding and subtracting to reveal, in varying degrees, what exists above and beneath the surface, I discover that which would otherwise be concealed. A variety of mediums and mark-making techniques associated with drawing, painting, and printmaking are left visible, serving as a record of the process and a testament to the human condition. A constant pulse of the past intertwines with new experiences, whether they be simple, complex, joyful, or tragic. This inspires me to continue the work.

Pieces of the past, in the form of collage and found objects, are integral to the work I create. They tell tales of their own and are a significant part of the story that is revealed to me as the work develops throughout the process. Houses, as forms and shapes, have a significant presence.

My interest in further understanding recurrent images of houses that appear in my work led me to 'The Poetics of Space' by Gaston Bachelard and his later work, 'Poetics of Reverie'. In his writings, Bachelard describes how the perception of our dwellings influences our thoughts and memories.
