WOOBIE
New Paltz NY UNITED STATES
I was born in 2003 in the NYC Metropolitan area and am known in the art world as Woobie. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting at SUNY New Paltz in New Paltz, NY, where I live and work.
My practice spans sculpture, painting, drawing, animation, and photography. My work has been included in publications such as Free Madness, The Oracle, Inside+Out, HVSFW, and Chronogram. I have exhibited in group shows and a solo exhibition at Rule of Thirds Studio. I have also worked with the Center for Photography at Woodstock, assisting in summer workshops on photographic processes. Professionally, I work as a creative director and commercial photographer in the Hudson Valley and New York City.
My creative practice moves across painting, sculpture, drawing, animation, and photography. I am interested in how different materials and visual languages can work together to examine social and political structures.
Humour and irony are central to my process. I use them as tools to expose, question, and complicate systems of corruption, power, and control. Rather than approaching these subjects directly, I often use wit, contradiction, and visual tension to create work that feels playful on the surface while carrying a sharper critical edge underneath.
My process is shaped by experimentation and by moving between fine art, photography, and creative direction. This allows me to build images and objects that operate across personal, cultural, and commercial spaces.
